1. Golgappas: I mean, I miss having golgappas from a hygienic place. I can hear tch…tch from many of you. But I am like that only! (KG’s favorite repartee to my instructions to wash hands is, “Haath ghis gaye hain dho dho kar!”) Can’t imagine myself having anything from the unhygienic roadside stalls. And at Bikanerwalas and Haldiram’s it’s D-I-Y Pack, which is not as interesting as having from the Golgappewala himself!
2. Ganne ka Ras: I mean, I miss having ganne ka ras from a hygienic place. In Jaipur, there was a (I hope it must be still there!) Ramayan Ras Bhandar in Nehru Bazaar. This shop is a ‘must visit’ in case you are in Jaipur. The shop has a rack on which the sugarcanes are neatly stacked and there is big nozzle water pipe. The attendants are forever cleaning the sugarcanes with water, the big glasses are spotlessly clean and the juice is simply YUM! At a go, one has 2-3 glasses and I’d like to have some more too, but the tummy refuses to accept more!
3. Swimming alone in the pool: We started our swimming from April. At that time only the kiddo and I were the sole swimmers. It was some fun…having the whole big, clean pool all for yourself and the solitude of swimming alone was a bliss. And now at all hours, one can see 25-30 kids and ladies in the pool. One has to actually manage the traffic while swimming!
And as a contestant of a beauty pageant would say…I miss my parents (I miss them truly), I miss my family and friends at Jaipur, Jodhpur, Lucknow and Mumbai, I miss our pets Candy (God give her peace) and our brat Dalmatian Pepper, I miss shopping at the big malls, I miss (only sometimes) the mad rush of the 8.11 local, I miss that laugh, that smile, that look…
