A Rose Is A Rose Is A Rose!

Things are as they are, not as they should be!

And They Lived Happily Ever After…

Aaryan, our 7 year old gem cum brat, went out to play in the park with his friends, yesterday. He has a core group of 3 friends (N, M & H) and some 2-3 others join them on and off for skating, cycling, bat-ball (no, they don’t call it cricket!) or hide and seek.

While, I was sweating it out on the treadmill, Aaryan came back, and started watching TV. Ten minutes later, I see a sulking child. On much prodding, he reveals that H (a girl) has instructed the others to stop talking to him for no apparent reason. My baby was close to tears!

SadFace

My reactions: Some consoling and sweet words, some kisses and hugs which was immediately followed by a rebuke to grow up and to pull his socks up and blah blah.

Poor child had NO options but to follow the instructions!

“Tch..tch…like father…like son…meaning, the treatment which the father gets, the same is given to the son!!” that’s KG speaking, in case he was present to witness the scene!

Nah, I don’t have Hitlerish genes in me, they just like to exaggerate!!

And next moment, N, M and H come barging in, with “Hello Aunty” and “Hello Aaryan” and immediately start the animated chatter. I sure had a dumbstricken look.

And soon, they were watching TV together and later on played on the PlayStation 2 in teams!!

This little incident made me wonder…as adults, would we have also done the same thing? I mean, forgetting the differences and extending a hand of reconciliation or peace so soon??

We adults, if in a conflict would, sulk for ages, bottle up our emotions, speak bitter words, show angry reactions or contempt, escalate issues, interpret everything negatively, which would ultimately lead to unhappiness on both sides!

I guess, one may follow..

A) Forgive and Forget.

But it is said “The stupid neither forgive nor forget; the naive forgive and forget; the wise forgive but do not forget.” So you may decide, the category you fall into!!

And also…“Men forget but never forgive. Women forgive but never forget.”

B) Or the 3 Cs as studied in a B-School: Compromise (A win-win situation), Co-exist (“There’s only you and me and we just disagree.”) and Capitulation (“Let’s try it your way”).

Anyways…whatever you decide to follow, I believe it should be… “And they lived happily ever after…”

  1. Whoo!
That’s why everyone dream of being children again or having that streak of childish innocence!

Its a rarity and it will always remain pure no matter what!.
And the world will remain as filthy as it is!

N.B.: I have finally blog rolled you, so I would be following your blog more closely!

  2. @ Roshmi: Hmmmmm…… No doubt, Child is the Father of Man.

But somewhere in our evolution into adulthood, the child is lost forever, though a bit of childishness is retained! 🙂
