A Rose Is A Rose Is A Rose!

Things are as they are, not as they should be!

The Indian Dream

This post has been published by me as a part of the Blog-a-Ton 3; the third edition of the online marathon of Bloggers; where we decide and we write. To be part of the next edition, visit and start following Blog-a-Ton.

A dream is an aspiration. And we all have that wistful look when we think about our dreams.
We hope for THAT dream to come true. We really, really long for that achievement to be ours.

A dream is not a domain of a select few… everybody has a wild fancy for something or the other. You…me…him…her…them…we… all aspire.

Our dreams change with our age, and when a dream is achieved, we move on to the higher plane of a new dream.

Sharing few dreams, we Indians dream of…

Common Man : Roti, Kapada aur MakanCommon_man A Farmer : His name in the Green Revolution.indian_farmer_suicides

A Blogger : Followers increase by a dozen every day, comments hit a double century for every post, get the every award in the blogosphere and churn out amazing posts every day!blogger-logo

EVERY INDIAN : A peaceful, prosperous, terror-free, poverty-free, crime-free, clean and green, united India.proud_to_be_an_indian-169234229

Whatever our dreams…May they come true.

Because, nothing happens unless first a dream. And to accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe. As a man’s dreams are an index to his greatness. So, no one should negotiate their dreams. Dreams must be free to flee and fly high.

So go on and Dream India…DREAM!!

  1. I was waiting for this very post! On the lookout actually and as usual no disappointments.
But every dream coming true is a bit conflicting and not a good thing always. After all people rarely know what is the best for them. But that’s besides the point.
What I want to say is, I LOVE this post.

  2. hey..a very nice post shilpa… the dream of ur child… and bloggers is very true…. A very good post…very nice classification..all the best for blog-a-ton 3…

  3. A very unique approach … Just reminded me of “Bruce Almighty” let all the wishes be granted 😀 …
but seriously you have told what an average Indian wants/dreams… but like I said in one of my earlier comments in one of the blogs… isn’t this want/dream that any Human would want/dream… I mean its actually a Global dream ….just think about it …

  4. As usual a very thoughtful post Shilpa.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Given dreams are visual and does not often get restricted by paragraphs, this is so apt.

This seems like a thumbnail to all the Indian Dream posts everyone has wrote. A screen-full of dream 🙂

PS : Hope our parents get to accept there are other careers than being a doctor or an engineer 🙂 ..

  5. @ Guria : OMG! I am stumped! 😀

Hey! Dreams should come true. Coz dreams are that wonderful feeling of hope that get you going.

Your thoughts and wishes make your dreams. When you work on achieving your dream, its a passion.
Passion when becomes an obsession, I guess, that’s the time to assess if one’s circumstances or expectations conform to reality.

By and large people do know what they want. And sometimes it’s bad, but that’s besides the point! (As you say!) 🙂

  6. Shilpa,
I have been expecting something ordinary when you got me wrong with the presentation.
I’ll tell you only one thing, you will get a lot number of votes on this one!
And lets hope about the comments too!

  7. I’m happy to find such nice post in this journal of yours, Shilpa!

Pragmatically speaking, it seems the older we get, the harder it is for us to create a positive vision for our future. When we were younger, it seemed much easier for us to THINK BIG, to expect the best. Nothing could stop us.

Has there been a change? Have we listened too long to those who have given up on what they could become? Have we become accustomed to just getting by?

Well, in a nutshell, I always go by the dictum — “IF YOU DARE TO DREAM, LIFE WILL GIVE YOU WINGS TO FLY”.

Have a great weekend ahead, Shilpa! Cheers! 🙂

  8. Aah a relieving post for all blog-a-tonics.. no faltu gyan-vyan like mine:)
We all have our different dreams but still they r so common. We all want happiness nd success, the form may b diffrnt for diffrnt ppl!
    Cheers:)

  9. this is my first visit to your page..and i almost get your style: )
    nice humor and nice reality..

yeah so many dreams flow into one big fat INdian dream!

the fair brige/groom thing is depressing..just here in blog-a-ton i read somewhere about this oh i wanna be mad fair fair
    thing

sure i understand your intention..our dreams can be different..
    nice post 🙂
also i love the title 🙂
all the best for the contest

  10. Darling….stupendous….i loved what u wrote….and you really have this in you to surprise every time….i simply lovvvvvvvvved ur post….

  11. You have very well collected the dreams from people of different strata, but my take is if as a country India has to progress, all these individual dreams must converge and make a Indian dream. If we look for NRI groom and settle outside, who will take care of India and if all students eye for IIT/IIM, how will science/commerce/arts be advanced.

Just my personal thoughts,I am not a critic 🙂 All the best to you 🙂

  12. an amazing idea to put forward ur thoughts….and as Vipul said no faltu gyan….
My respect for your writing skills is increasing leaps and bounds….

  13. @ Chetan: Thank you Chetan.

    Yeah, that’s true too!

    @ Shankar: Thanks Shankar!

@ Dhiman: Thank you. Yes, it can be a Global dream, after human needs/desires are the same irrespective of the geographical location.

@ MADHU RAO : Thank you, Madhu for all the kind words. I am beaming! 🙂

I guess, times have changed, and our parents have changed a bit too. Its our turn to accept and welcome the new opportunities which our kids will explore soon! 🙂

  14. @ pawan: Thanks Pawan. I am glad you liked the presentation. 🙂

@ Bharathi: Thank you. I know, what you mean!! 😀

But then, I wanted to project a bit realistic figure! 😀

@ vEnKy: I saw your version and liked it! 🙂

@ Shrinath Vashishtha: Thanks Shrinath. That’s a wonderful philosophy to live by!!

You have a great weekend too! 🙂

  15. @ Vipul Grover: 😀 Am glad my post acts as a stress buster!! 😀

Yes, you are right, all our dreams stem from the basic desires of happiness and success! 🙂

@ Sid ‘Ravan’ Kabe: Thanks Sid. Well, i will not say, stop dreaming, but time to act on them! Coz dreams alone will not take you anywhere, they have to be augmented with action!!

@ѕωαмι ηανєєη: Thank you. Yes, they are Global dreams, after human needs/desires are the same.:)

@ Miss-Nobody: Thanks Miss Nobody! Am glad you liked it! Oh, you too?? Join the club! Cheers!

  16. @ Aashima: Thanks girlie for such wonderful words!! 😀

@ Mustaf: Thank you Mustaf. And welcome on “A rose is a rose is a rose!”

I believe, all the individual dreams of peace, success and happiness culminate into the Big Indian Dream of peace, prosperity and growth.

And these are not universal/mandatory dreams for all. Not all aspire of NRI grooms or IIT/IIMs. These are just some representative dreams for a category of people. Know what I mean?

    @ R S V : Thanks a lot rahul. Am glad you liked it! 🙂

  27. Except for the common man, the farmer and your child, most of them cross the boundary of Ambitions! So call them Indian Ambitions! [They say being ambitious is bad, don’t they?]

I was thinking as I read your post 🙂

  28. i must say that this is a gorgeous way to start off the day… very interesting and inspiring… Thanks for posting this…

Added you on my blogroll… you have an interesting space out here… shall come more often…

  29. If everyone’s dream were to become true what will hapeen..can be seen in the movie..god tusi grat ho? there will be chaos and not everyone will be happy:)..god gives us what we need, not always what we want:)

  30. You captured every body’s dream Shilpa, kudos to you.
And what can I say about the blogger’s dream? You were spot on about it. Every night I wish my followers list has more names in it but when I wake up and check, I get a rude shock.

  31. Now that is what is called as unique and innovative. What an approach! I truly loved it!

And seems a lot of your dreams coming true…every post I see series of new readers and comments!! Great going!

  32. A very different post as usual with lots of pictures and really very easy to understand! I had lot of expectations and all of them fulfilled! Very good post Shilpa!!

  33. @ sp.ajay : Thanks! and Welcome on a blog! 🙂

@ Sojo Varughese: Surely being ambitious is not a bad thing, especially if your ambition is not having a detrimental effect on anyone else. Ambition is enthusiasm with a purpose. Great ambition is the passion of a great character. Those endowed with it may perform very good or very bad acts. All depends on the principals which direct them.

Dreams are visions of what you want to accomplish. Ambitions are goals or levels you want to achieve.

  34. @ Babli : Thank you Babli. And thanks a ton for the lovely award too. I’ll post it on my blog soon! 🙂

    @ aativas: Thanks 🙂

    @ pra: Thanks Prashansa. 🙂

@ Sorcerer: Thank you! And welcome on “A rose is a rose is a rose!”. Hope to see you around. 🙂

  35. What an awesome post!!! I read a few other post participating in this contest, no idea if the results are out, but I love this one!!

I believe in dreaming too, how will we achieve if we have no dreams? And like Paulo Coelho said,”When you really want something the entire universe conspires to help you achieve it.”

  36. @ indianhomemaker : Thanks! 🙂
The results will be declared on 8th after 5 pm!!

Oh, yes, that’s so very true!! And he goes on to say that “So decide what you want, stay focused and let the world around you take over.” 🙂

  37. Dreams are like plants trying to come out of seeds
like sapling that air water and sunlight needs
Dreams on action, hardwork and follow-up feeds
the one who does all this his expectations always exceeds.

    Good post. Keep dreaming 🙂

  38. Awesome creativity yaar! Loved the way u presented! Is the voting still on? Or did I miss it? And if it’s still on, then how and where do I vote?

  39. Super-duper post! The thing that sets you apart as a blogger is the way you creatively write you posts. There’s always something unique and different in your posts.. Too good!

And talking about this post, I really enjoyed reading it because of its visual appeal and of course, your simple, smart, short and wise words… By the way, I really found the wife’s dream to be very hilarious! LOL! Great going…!

  40. Thanks for the opportunity to have read this and I will consider it and I’ll check back in the future, to see what other readers are thinking about the matter.
