Memories of You

cooltext1108140704

We were walking side by side, you and me. I tripped and fell into some feelings. You steadied me with your hand in mine.

And I am feeling a warmth enveloping me.

As I dreamt out loud about our life together. Destiny clipped my flight short explaining that we were meant to stay in each other’s hearts, but not in our lives.

And a single tear glides down my cheek.

Every now and then I open the bottle of memories, they spill all over me, as the past replays in my head, I live our life together all over again!

I am taking part in The Write Tribe Festival of Words 8th – 14th December 2013. The Theme for today is Memory/Memories

    1. True, some memories warm us up from the inside and some can tear us apart too, at the same time! Thanks Sheethal 🙂

    1. Sridevi – you beat me to it….As I read, I found myself saying, “This is the girl who says she can’t understand poetry.” Perhaps, she can’t understand, but she certainly creates it!
      Beautiful, Shilpa!

      1. LOL Corinne! 😀 The fact is I still cant understand poetry! 😛
Thanks and so glad that you believe that this piece is poetic! 🙂 ♥

    1. Oh yes, some memories are wonderful gifts 🙂
I guess, with this time difference, you get more time to catch up or is it the other way around 😛

  1. Some memories though sad, are cherished memories. I have some of those too and yours took me back to one of them. Lovely Shilpa. So beautifully narrated.

    1. Glad to have your company, Jyothi, let’s drabble this week! 🙂
Thanks a lot, glad you enjoyed this piece of writing 🙂

  2. Wow! What a beautiful piece. 🙂

“…we were meant to stay in each other’s hearts, but not in our lives.” Just so touching these lines are. You rock! 🙂

  3. Shilpa, love how ‘feelings’, Destiny’ and ‘memories’ have been beautifully object-ified by you in this post. A most lovely creation of 100 words. I don’t remember the last time a handful of words spoke so powerfully to me. Well done!

  4. Beautiful! So many emotions captured in a 100 words. Looking forward to your posts for the rest of the festival.

  5. Destiny clipped my flight short explaining that we were meant to stay in each other’s hearts, but not in our lives.

You have written beautifully. At times many wishes do not come true. Maybe they are destined. But re-living them is romantic too. Like opening a bottle of perfume to inhale the fragrance and closing it immediately but a little fragrance escapes into the air making the whole atmosphere pleasant. loved your style of writing.

  6. How do you write so much in just 100 words!! Your prose itself is so poetic and beautiful that it paints a picture on its own. Lovely and very appealing….

  7. Brilliant piece Shilpa 🙂 You have expressed so much in so few words…Memories never fail to make your eyes twinkle, be it through a tinge of regret or a hint of joy.

    1. Thank you, Reshma. Agree with your thoughts. Also when we remember happy times, we remember the moments that brought us joy. But the sad memories have the power to hurt us for a long time!

  8. amazed at the way you frequently( almost daily) compose your Drabbles and fiction in 100 words. Crisp, concise and the message is clear. The punctuations and fonts speak along with the few words. You are blesssed with this talent:).

  9. i agree with what most of the fellow commentators have said… a lot of emotion in a 100 words. And yes, some of our most sacred memories are buried within our hearts… viewing them every once in a while can be very painful.
