A Rose Is A Rose Is A Rose!

Things are as they are, not as they should be!

Musings of a Little Girl

People were looking at me, but were they really looking at me, I wondered.

Will they be able to sense my hesitation? Or hear the tremble in my voice?

Will the fight with my inner self show in my eyes?

I guess, they will just brush it off as inexperience or perhaps social awkwardness.

A few were smiling indulgently while others did not give any thought at all and just moved on.

Aah! The answers that I was seeking as I stood waiting with my friends at the busy corner of a street, to meet the strangers in the night.

  1. Whoa, Shilpa…..I think no one would really want to meet the strangers in the night if she had a choice. No wonder the conflict too. A brilliant hundred words and I will share mine soon!

    1. Oh yes, given a choice and a chance, nobody would have this kind of life! Really feel sad for such girls and women!
Thanks Michelle, glad you liked these 100 words.

  2. My heart aches for the poor girl, hope she never has to go meet the strangers in the night. A touching post, Shilpa.

  3. Nicely written.. Just coming over from Meena’s blog after reading a similar story. It really should be a harrowing experience, meeting strangers in night, and moreover, depending on it for livelihood.

  4. Rather sad! From my experience even if two girls stand at a corner talking after class.. before they go home… they are looked down at… that is the sad story of life 😐

    1. I know what you mean, Seeta. The fact that it is so rampant now-a-days, does not makes it any easier! 🙁
