W is for Willpower in Marriage

55 Fiction

He saw her and his heart skipped a beat.

The world stopped for him and it was simply beautiful with just him and her.

Having her would disrupt his simple life.

Still his heart was in denial.

His head, however knew that he must turn down the sinfully rich brownie that was calling his name.

  1. When my father had two massive attacks doctors had totally lost hope. He was on a ventilΓ‘tor for three days. But he survived and was alive for another year and a half. I believe that his will power was what gave him that extra time on earth.

  2. Will power in marriage is an important thing! The will power not to get carried away by temptations, the will power to do what is needed for your spouse! Great going Shilpa! Last minute but done well as always!

  3. I wish I had this will power πŸ˜€
Jokes apart, yes, any relationship thrives on will power πŸ™‚ We need to have the will power to keep it going, despite the struggle. It is too easy to give up !

  4. Lovely post that makes the reader smile and think!
“Do what is right, not what is easy” is what we have to practise to rid our nation of corruption.
This post applies to marriage, to all relationships and to life itself.

  5. Ha ha ha – love your twists as always:-) Thinking this looove story sailing up … but then… ya ok, can love that brownie too I guess:-) Good one:-)

  6. hey that’s me right?!!! i would never turn down that sinfully rich chocolate brownie for anything in the world….even if it meant an extra 45 min on the treadmill the next day!! πŸ™‚

  7. That was sneaky! :O) My mind went in a totally different direction.

I’ve got to give some props to my MIL’s husband for his willpower. He was a US Marine in Viet Nam and got shot on his first tour-of-duty. He went back. That time, he tripped a landmine and it blew off both his legs (to the hip) and one of his arms. He came back, got two master’s degrees, raised a family, and STILL does more in a day than most people do in a week. And he’s one of the nicest men you will ever meet.

  8. Working on developing this quality, shilpa:) Not just for marriage, will power can do wonders in self healing. My family elders have it in abundance, they are my inspiration. I and my husband both are working on developing it through meditation and yoga. hoping to join the club of people with ” immense will power” soon.

    As always loved your 55er!

  9. A brownie is all I desire at the moment but I have to control my mind, I have the willpower to do so. Lovely twist in the end πŸ™‚

  10. Brownies! How can one resist brownies. Ok, I have no will-power. Maybe I would just exercise more to burn off the calories later πŸ˜‰

  11. Shilpa,

Having Will Power surely makes marriages work when situations demand one to control what one wishes to do.

    Take care

  12. Ha! I was expecting something else. πŸ™‚ A brownie would be hard for me to resist, but I do agree that will power is required to sustain a relationship. Well said!

  13. There is nothing so wonderful as resisting the temptation to do/eat something. It helps one feel that the mind is in control. But, it does take time and practice and patience πŸ˜€

  14. Loved the way you conveyed the importance of will power Shilpa, the quotes at the end of the 55er are spot on, but like all exercises, exercising your will power is hard, it is easier to give in πŸ˜›
