A Rose Is A Rose Is A Rose!

Things are as they are, not as they should be!

Choice, Chance, Change

She desperately wanted it to work… their relationship, that is.

But the more she tried, the more it fell apart.

She didn’t know why she was clinging so fiercely to this dead-end-relationship.

She didn’t know why she kept running back to him when she needed to walk away.

May be the hope that things would change for good, some day.

May be… yes, may be…

Today, after a decade, she wished she knew then what she knew now that some things never change.

And that she must make a choice to take a chance or her life will never change.

    1. Yeah, sometimes, wish it was clear from the very beginning. But I guess, we do realize, sooner or later if something is good or bad for us! Thanks Shalini. 🙂

  1. I have been in dead end relationships like that and wished I would have known ahead of time so I wouldn’t have had to wasted my time and went through the heartache. Oh well, you live and learn. Nice take on the prompt! ♥

    1. Oh yes, we learn from our experiences, some are painful lessons while some are priceless lessons! Hugs to you, Kathy! You are so strong! ♥

  2. The human heart is so complex and guess matters of the heart so complicated where the strongest become the weakest. But, one needs to know when to move since it fetters growth. Brilliant 100 words. Shilpa:)

    1. Moving on is the best thing to do when there’s no hope, but it is never an easy decision! Thank you Vishal!

  3. Been there, done that! It never works. You stay and stay and stay and, in the end, all you waste is your own time. Best to move on and find someone who deserves to be with you.

    Very well written!

    1. Somebody said, ‘in reality, hope is the worst of all evils, because it prolongs man’s torments’. And it is sooo true! Thank you Stephanie. Glad you liked this attempt!

  4. We all go through it at some point… emotions take over reality and when we realize it, it is often too late.. loved the message you gave through the prompt Shilpa 🙂

  5. A tough one! When do we say enough is enough and move on, when is the right time to make that big change…not easy questions, for sure. Especially when it is a long relationship. But sometimes the voice from the inside is so sure, then there is no stopping, no looking back. It is time to move ahead.
    A very good post, Shilpa!

    1. Oh yes, it is never an easy choice. But yes, sometimes, you do have to take that step! Thanks Beloo!

    1. She should move on. But then some people are never able to take that bold step. Thanks Raj!

  6. Sometimes, walking away is much harder than we expect. How much we need to let go of the hurt and the pain and the dashed hopes. But when we do, we can emerge stronger and happier. Beautifully done in 100 words, Shilpa. But then, you’re a pro, aren’t you? 🙂

    1. True that. Leaving the past and present behind and moving on in the new direction is truly a tough decision for most. But yes, as you rightly said, if we do take the step in that direction, our life could change, forever! Thank you, Shailaja. You are too generous 🙂

    1. Agree, but then sometimes you do have to let go when things just dont work out or change for the better!

    1. They say your decision to walk creates the path ahead! Only one needs to take that step! Thanks Archana!

  7. Sane advice Shilpa. These decisions are hard to take. You cannot but hope that things will work out. When you should draw the line and move forward is a tough decision.

    1. You are spot on… that drawing the line is the critical thing… if only we know when to do that!

    1. Oh yes, it is a story of so many people around us… living in hopeless situations with that eternal flame of hope, burning strong…!!

  8. I wonder how long she could’ve held on like this. Good, that she understood, that she has to take the chance ! Lovely drabble, Shilpa 🙂

    1. Oh, some people spend their entire life living in that hope that things would change for good…
      Thank you Sreeja!

  9. This is the truth that we keep on sweeping the problems under the carpet instead of dealing with them…It’s good for her that she took a step finally.
