A Rose Is A Rose Is A Rose!

Things are as they are, not as they should be!

Read, Read and Write

Drabble

Recently, a friend mentioned that she was in awe of my reading spree, the various genres of books that I read and that I read an erotica too.

Words fascinate me. I enjoy the different worlds they take me to and this in turn helps me to create my own new worlds. They say, better writers tend to be better readers, and better readers produce better writing. As for reading ‘anything’, Oscar Wilde has aptly said, “the books that the world calls immoral are books that show the world its own shame.”

So read, read and write is my mantra!

Written for the Write Tribe’s 100 Words Saturday Prompt for  the quote “Read, read, read. Read everything — trash, classics, good and bad, and see how they do it. Just like a carpenter who works as an apprentice and studies the master. Read! You’ll absorb it.
Then write. If it’s good, you’ll find out. If it’s not, throw it out of the window. – William Faulkner

    Both the skills are integrated…
    Lovely post Shilpa

  3. It takes some effort to read everything. Bow to you.

Reminds me of the many books that I have left at some stage after beginning to read. They were not my cup.

  4. Though I’m not the ‘read any kind of book’ kind, I see you have a point! And yeah, your writing reflects your passion for letting the words do all the talking 🙂 So keep going!

    1. I was earlier only into reading fiction, but gradually moved to other genres but still not comfortable reading autobiographies or books on politics and non-fiction, though I do read them once in a while. Thanks RGB 🙂
