A Rose Is A Rose Is A Rose!

Things are as they are, not as they should be!

Life Lessons

Have you come across people who add stress to your life, add worry lines on the forehead and generally mess up with your head? You spend hours or sometimes days explaining or rationalising or analysing the words or the situations with no respite. You lose your peace of mind and feel as if life has been sucked out of you. Thereโ€™s fear, hurt and pain too.

And then comes a point in time, when you realize that you canโ€™t look at things their way. It doesn’t come easily, though! But sooner or later, you do realize that you now know what is important to you. You realize that you do not need all that drama in your life and you need to walk away from all that pulls you down. You realize that holding grudges is not you, so whatโ€™s the next course of action for you?

Well, thank them for the wonderful memories that they gave you at some point of time. Thank them for the lessons that they forced you to learn. And thank them for giving you the choice to move forward.

life can only be understood backwards

  1. The message is so clear.Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards. Everyone must aim to practice it in daily life. Enjoyed reading it.

    1. If only we realized this earlier in life and practiced it too, we would have been saved from so much of stress. But then we learn only from experiences!

  2. Loved this post Shilpa. Yes, i have walked out on many and stay far away from such people. Not just in real life even in blogsville, i have unfollowed many self-obsessive people and frequent ranters.

  3. Something which I needed to read at this very moment. Beautiful message, Shilpa. I’ve tried to move away, but sadly it does affect me many a times.

    1. I know, it is not easy to just detach yourself from situations and people. But when you do it, it is worthwhile and that’s the best thing you are doing for yourself!

  4. I did exactly the same to a friend, yes that person is still a friend. And it actually felt nice, not having to explain everything we do, and infact saying sorry for something we are not sorry for.

  5. Agreed! Sometimes it’s not possible to actually walk away but I’ve mentally moved away from the person and decided that they don’t need to figure large in my life any more!!

  6. Very wise, indeed. The older I get, the less crap I put up with from others. I am me and am not going to conform to how they think I should be and that’s that.

  7. The people we come across once in our life time are parents and siblings by birth, teachers and classmates at School and collage, wife and children by family, colleagues and bosses in work spot, and people who are our neighbours and fellow citizens.

We get affection and love in the first intense, knowledge and guidance in second intense, responsibilities in third instance, co-ordination and supporting nature from fourth instance and finally we come to know about co-operation and peaceful co-existence in fifth instance.

In our old age grand children give their sympathy on our weaknesses and try to support us.

It is the way of life and always goes forward.

The word stress refers to our efforts in giving back what we received from people in return.

So the lines formed on our forehead is either a natural process or made by God Almighty to show to the world our achievements in life.

  8. We all have come across quite a few such people. I call them ‘energy drains’! When possible, we should completely remove such persons from our lives. Often, that’s not possible because the person is related, maybe quite closely, or is a neighbour. In such cases, we should interact with that person only when (s)he initiates the interaction. Most importantly, we have to learn to ignore that person’s toxic words and/or deeds.

  9. This spoke to my heart, Shilpa, because I dealt with one such person yesterday. She was too tough and it was not pretty. But as you say, I thank her for the memories, the difference she made to my life and now, the chance to move on.

    1. Glad that the experience with that person gave you the chance to leave the stress and toxicity behind and move ahead in life! Well done, Michelle!

  10. Oh yes, I have had people like that in my life…. But no more… But you can for sure learn something … and then move on… I enjoyed this read!

    1. True. Like they say, never blame anyone in your life. Good people give you happiness. Bad people give you experience. Worst people give you a lesson & best people give you memories.:)
