J is for Jealousy #AtoZChallenge @AprilA2Z

My theme for this year’s Blogging from A to Z April Challenge is Feelings and Emotions from A to Z in 55 Words. Today, J is for Jealousy.

J

They look good together, his handsomeness complements her beauty.

Their comfort with each other is so obvious.

They share similar interests and laugh at the same jokes.

And the way they finish each other’s sentences!

Oh, they truly belong together.

Aah! It’s a bad word –Β ‘belong.’ Especially when you put it with somebody you love.

Join me in enjoying blogs from fellow A to Zers… Jyotsna Bhatia and Jenny PearsonΒ today! Do share some blog love with them too!

  1. English words…what a concept, eh? How one word can have two very different meaning, depending on the context. “To be jealous of time with a family member” means to make that time a priority. When you begin to be “jealous of the time a loved one spends with other”, you can begin to treat them as ‘property’ which IMO is n.e.v.e.r. good.

Every day, Shilpa, I think about what you have written, and consider it in light of my life. By that I mean am I working to bring more good things into my life and lessen the bad things.

Off to check out your “J-recommendations” for the day!

  2. I agree completely. When we say belong it brings a sense of ownership like there is a tag on a person saying “He/she is his/her property”. Wonderful and thought-provoking Shilpa πŸ™‚

  3. Yes, no one should have a sense of possession over anyone else. One of my favourite expressions is: “If you love something (or someone) set it free. If it comes back to you, it’s yours. If it doesn’t, then it never was.” πŸ™‚

  4. Just saw a song by Taylor Swift, ‘You belong with me’, and now I am reading your post πŸ™‚ I agree, Jealousy is not a good thing in a relationship.

  5. Love how you’ve woven the story around jealousy, explaining where it stems from. ‘Belonging’/ ‘owning’ can often lead to jealousy. Very well put by you. : )
