They knew, their quarrel was unjust, still they argued, every day.

Sometimes, people would intervene but mostly they gathered around to witness the spectacle.

That day, the sparks of their hatred fell on the crowd.

That day justice was delivered swiftly by the lynching mob as they tossed their body parts at the circling vultures.

My theme for this year’s Blogging from A to Z April Challenge is Crime Stories in 55 Words.

  1. Lynch mobs are the worst. I kind of feel that they are the physical manifestations of the online trolls we encounter- the kind that believe in rank, mob justice carried away by the frenzy of other people’s anger which fuels their own.

Shuddering at the image in the last line.

    1. You are spot on. Online trolls do all this by hiding in anonymity the web provides and from the comfort of their homes.

    1. Yes, when I was researching for this subject, my initial assumption was that this must be a practice of the olden days, but I was surprised to read that lynch mobs are active even today.
Thanks Debbie. Glad you liked this piece.

    1. Reading about Lynch Mobs was an eye-opener for me. As Debbie mentioned, I assumed that such mobs must be a thing of past. But just earlier this month, in Alwar ‘Gau rakshaks’ killed a dairy farmer, who they assumed was a cattle smuggler!!

    1. Yes, it happens even today. These past few days I read about so many such incidents. The recent one was that in Alwar, earlier this month. And then there were Dadri and Dimapur mob lynchings and so many more…

  2. One would think this is something from history, but given certain things we read about, this might as well be today! Mob justice is the worst.

    1. I know what you mean, Sarah! Crime world is indeed murky and horrifying.
Thanks for reading out my gruesome stories, every day. Appreciate it ♥
