No one said anything. Maybe there was nothing to say.

No one even cringed. Maybe it was routine.

I had always thought that it wouldn’t happen to me.

And if it did, I’d scream. I’d shriek and certainly raise hell.

But when it really happened, I was too scared. Too humiliated. Too embarrassed. Too silent.

  1. Oh how I can relate to it for its happened to me too; its a tough thing as a fresher to even acknowledge that it happened!! Its a sickening part of the corporate life – men prey on junior women employees with impunity; almost as if its their birthright!!

  2. This is so true, Shilpa. And I can relate to it a lot. In my head, I feel I would do this, I would do that… but when the situation actually comes, I hide under covers and look reasons to avoid the situation!

    Cheers

  3. That feeling of embarrassment can be over powering. Strange how the perpetrators don’t feel anything while it’s the victim that feels embarrassed.

  4. Such a sad one. Being in HR – I need to say that out loud that employees should report and never ever tolerate. Even the government has laws that protect – POSH is what it is called. Prevention of Sexual Harassment.
