Xenocide #AtoZChallenge @AprilA2Z

55 Fiction

You might’ve heard that blood is thicker…

But do you know that nobody fights as brutally as your own blood?

Yeah, they know what makes you tick and all that…

And you know they fought for me too.

They fought tooth and claw to get their honor from death by wiping clean my husband’s clan.

My theme for this year’s Blogging from A to Z April Challenge is Crime Stories in 55 Words.

Today’s story, X is for Xenocide

Xenocide is “the deliberate mass destruction of one group of people by another group or by a regime, with the intent to eliminate a large part of the targeted group due to its ethnicity, religion, race, political belief, social identification or cultural heritage, or due to rivalry over scarce resources.”

  1. It is horrible that honor killings are still rampant today! Quite a few crime shows based on true incidents deal with this. I shudder to read this, Shilpa!

  2. I never knew something like this excited before watching the movie NH 10. Can you believe it? I was so oblivious to such a crime happening in our own country. Brutal!

  3. So brutal and horrific. I will never understand Xenocide and the idea of honour killing either. Well illustrated, Shilpa. Another great short one.

  4. Love the way you choose the word. Xenocide word is not very common and thanks for defining it. Honour killings yes, heard quite a lot of them, specially in relationship issues…. rich caste boy in love with poor caste girl… or upper caste girl with a scheduled caste boy…At the university level they are already aware and make decisions in the last minute that causes problem to both.
