A Question For You

We all have gone through tough times at some point of time in our lives… a bad relationship, a tough time at work, losing somebody we loved, an illness, a failure in a project, a betrayal, an accident…

These tough times can knock us down, demoralize us, frustrate us, depress us and make our life very stressful.

We may face these challenging times, for a few days, or few weeks or few months or may be years together!!

But of course, these tough phases never last forever. They do pass away and give way to the good and happy times, sooner or later and the cycle of life continues.

And when these tough times leave us, they enrich us with some lessons, they change us for better (or bitter?), they make us stronger…

My question to you today is “How do you cope up with the tough times, during the tough times?” Or in other words, how do you keep yourself sane or positive, during tough times? What strategies or methods you adopt during these tough times?

Let your thoughts and views flow….

My Life, My Story

I am the heart and soul of my home. In fact, my home survives and functions and looks like a home only because of me. Under my able ‘leadership’, everybody goes about doing their tasks smoothly. Without me, they are nothing and will perish in no time. You see, I am the one who keeps my brood strong and happy.

And in turn my family takes great care of me. My needs are met without me saying a single word. My health, my grooming and the cleanliness of my abode is topmost priority for my family. Hell, they take great pains to serve me the best and special food too. Yes, that’s the respect and love, I command in my home.

I am the apple of eye of everybody in my family. But all their love and care and adulation does not go to my head or does not make me act like a spoilt brat! I love and value all that they do for me. I go about doing my work and they theirs and we live together in perfect harmony like a big happy loving family.

It is true that I live a life like no other in my home! And I love it, truly!

Ah! The perks of being a queen bee!

Story Of My Life

cooltext1108140704

The utensils in the kitchen and the onions hold my attention span for a longer time than the Zenga blocks.

The mud in the garden is more delectable than the curd-rice Mommy feeds me.

The pictures on the TV captivate my attention more than the words in my books.

I don’t know, I am always, somehow silently drawn by the strange pull of these unconventional and ‘unapproved’ things.

Am I allowed to follow my heart?

Now, see I am playing drums with this dustbin in this shop here. And I will be hearing anytime now, their oft repeated word, NO!

Little Did She Know

“Darling, you must not exert yourself. Stay in the bed, I’ll get breakfast for you.”

“You stay here and finish your work, I’ll get it.”

I am lucky to have a caring husband like him, she mused.

Little did she know, that he needed the coast to be clear while he flirted with the maid.

Sirens Spell Danger

Title: Sirens Spell DangerSirens Spell Danger
Authors: C. Suresh, Radha S and Karthik L
Number of Pages: 211 (Estimated)
Price [INR] : 99 (Kindle Edition)
Genre: Thriller

This is the first ebook that I am reviewing and it is the second book that I have read on my Kindle app. While my first experience of reading an ebook was not all that great, as I longed to feel the touch of the book et al but reading Sirens Spell Danger has kindled my love for Kindle books.

Sirens Spell Danger is a collection of three novellas written by  three bloggers, C. Suresh, Radha Sawana and Karthik L.

The first story “Femme Fatale” is written by C Suresh. It is about Vikram, an aspiring police recruit whose ogling and drooling at a girl in a pub lands him in some nightmarish incidents involving murders and amidst plans of a terror attacks in the city. Though the plot is racy, has loads of action and subtle humour but somehow it reads like a mediocre action movie. The action is presented quickly and the handling of the plot is rather lame and limp.

The second one “Bella Donna” written by Radha is my favourite of all the 3 stories in Sirens Spell Danger. A serial killer is loose in the city who leaves mysterious messages around the bodies of the victims. Are the messages a challenge to the police or a siren call to lure another victim? This story is a medical thriller and is well researched and well presented. The plot is engaging, fast paced and laden with twists throughout the story. It manages to keep the reader in suspense from the word go, as the motives of the characters are kept under wraps till the end. It is difficult to determine how the mystery would be unravelled and when it does, it leaves you impressed and thrilled.

The third story is “Bellary” written by Karthik L. Jay, from the Intelligence Bureau  is sent to Bellary to investigate a possible ISI plot. Before he reaches Bellary attempts are made on his life and he finds himself in murky politics, mythical stories and a paranormal plot.  Too much of details makes the pace a bit slow and lowers the thrill factor. The story though is promising but could have been executed better.

Overall, Sirens Spell Danger is a nice one time read.

cooltext468162920.pngTen Things about the Day Today… 14 Jan 14

  1. It is KG’s birthday today and we started the celebrations with cutting the cake at sharp 12. 2014-01-14 00.01.37
  2. In the afternoon, we rushed to our family friends who celebrate Makar Sakranti in a big way. It is seen that people who have relatives in the same city or have joint families celebrate festivals with great zeal and gusto as compared to the nuclear families. See the men and boys at work… preparing the kites so that they soar high in the sky.

10. Finally the hectic day came to an end by lighting a sky lantern at night. The market is flooded by these Chinese lanterns and is a new thing which dotted the skyline of our city today.

Musings of a Little Girl

cooltext1108140704_thumb.png

People were looking at me, but were they really looking at me, I wondered.

Will they be able to sense my hesitation? Or hear the tremble in my voice?

Will the fight with my inner self show in my eyes?

I guess, they will just brush it off as inexperience or perhaps social awkwardness.

A few were smiling indulgently while others did not give any thought at all and just moved on.

Aah! The answers that I was seeking as I stood waiting with my friends at the busy corner of a street, to meet the strangers in the night.

Spine Poetry – 11

Spine Poetry

The concept of book spine poetry appeared in 1993 with Nina Katchadourian’s Sorted Books project. Katchadourian began collecting interesting titles and arranging them in clusters so the spines could be read like a sentence(s) or poem.

Katchadourian’s Sorted Book Project manages to become more than an experiment in medium. Her playful photographed poems are sometimes cleverly arranged jokes or amusing images, but at other times, they are short and stunning thoughts on the nature of art and artists. You can see all the series at her website.

Here’s my today’s poetry story with books…

Masterstroke

My father believed that I would never make it big in life.

My mother never said anything but her silence said a lot.

Relatives and friends had trouble suppressing their smirks in my presence.

Ha! How much I’d love to see the look on their faces when they see me living in the lap of luxury…

And on television, today, as India’s Most Wanted!
