Ten Reasons : Why I Love Blog Challenges
This is my 6th daily blogging challenge. While I did the first 3 in isolation, the last 2 were done in a group. The experience of the last 2 everyday blogging challenges has left quite an impression on me. So, here are the reasons why I love taking up blogging challenges…
- Camaraderie : I guess, this is the foremost reason for doing blog challenges now. I simply love and enjoy the camaraderie of these virtual community events. The support from fellow bloggers and fun of flocking at each other’s blog is simply amazing.
- Active grey cells : Thinking about a new blog post everyday keeps the grey cells active… very active! Everything I look at, is from a blogging perspective, during these challenges. Also, these challenges certainly push me to think out of the box.
- Keeps me motivated : With a fabulous group of fellow bloggers to support and cheer you, who wouldn’t be motivated and excited to read and write everyday!!
- A good daily habit : “We first make our habits, and then our habits make us”, said John Dryden. Doing something every day is such a powerful way to form a habit and nothing is more satisfying and enriching than developing a daily habit of reading and writing!
- Develop a new network : I discovered a new set of bloggers during the A to Z Challenge and some more during the FMS May Photo Challenge. It is interesting to discover new styles, new perspectives and newer like minded virtual friends.
- A learning experience : Everyday one learns something new. A new outlook to an issue, some new blogging techniques, a different presentation, some interesting interactions… During the A to Z Challenge, I was amazed that a blogger (Bhavya) wrote a story from A to Z, while another kept the readers busy by getting them to crack codes and puzzles….
- A positive and much needed bonus : Yes, everyday writing has some positive effect on the overall writing style, or so I like to believe. 😉 Also it gives me some more clarity of thought and helps crystallize the random thoughts better.
- Crazy fun : Brainstorming over the phone or chatting on Whatsapp or discussing in a forum, interacting on the blogs is some crazy fun which I simply love.
- Challenging self : Martin Luther King Jr said, the ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge … and I agree with him. Only after we accept the challenges, we can feel the exhilaration of achievement and success.
- There’s something more… : The month long of blogging gives you some big and small, shiny and creative badges to display proudly on the blog. 😉
Do these reasons excite you to take up a blogging challenge next time?

Why don’t they come up with weekly challenges, ya? I may participate 🙂
Destination Infinity
There are weekly challenges too. And that too so many of them. Ask Google the God. 😀
So many reasons, so many temptations:) But I’m holding strong. Not because of will power, but because, I have such a busy schedule this month, that o am better off not participating:)
But I agree with DI, give me weekly challenges, and I will happily participate 🙂
I know, daily blogging is tough when you have busy schedule. There are people with suicidal tendencies who take up such challenges despite that. I am in train right now… off to Agra 😉
There are weekly challenges that you may take up too. 🙂
I so agree with you Shilpa! Specially points 1, 5 and 9.
True…. we had all these in abundance during the A to Z 🙂
Love these reasons and agree with all of them…Also my reasons to have jumped into my 2nd monthly blogging challenge 🙂 Good luck, Shilpa
Thanks Kajal. Let’s have some super fun this time too. Cheers and good luck to you too. 🙂

You really are on a roll Shilpa after your post yesterday on the jitters, I thought you might do such a post today being tuesday 😀 and I see my guess was correct 🙂
I admire your courage, taking up one challenge after another 🙂 Maybe someday I’ll find enough inspiration to jump in the fray, till then I’ll enjoy reading delightful posts 🙂
Shilpa, I n-must say hat youare very brave. You accept a chaalenge and come out victorious. Your grit and determination is appreciable. May God give you the strength to undertake greater challenges !!
What a fabulous collection of reasons. And I agree with all of them. You really crystallised the reasons why we participate in these blog challenges, and why we keep coming back for more.
I agree with all of your reasons, Shilpa. The challenge to be creative on a daily basis requires much discipline.
Incidentally, you gave us quite a few puzzles too during the A-Z challenge! 🙂
N gives us one month of non stop reading to do 🙂
Oh I loved blogging A-Z! I did it in combo with Camp NaNoWriMo and blogged a murder mystery. I didn’t get a lot of visits but I had a cool story by the time I was done. Love your reasons and I agree. If you are a writer and want a weekly one there is Weekend Writing Warriors where you post 8 sentences of your WIP or finished book.

You have done 6 daily blogging challenges? You are a veteran! *raises a reverential hat to Shilpa* Six years of blogging and this is only my first!
Am so tempted but can’t do no more! Although it would be lovely to read your and Smita’s blog daily! 🙂 I might take up the one in October.
Shilpa…I totally agree with you. It is going to be my first daily challenge, and I have a whole busy month ahead of me. However, I took the plunge and made a resolution to complete it. Lets hope I can manage.
P.s. loved browsing through your other posts too.
Ha ha see I told you. You can cook up some wonderful posts without trying much. So I guess, that happens when you get used to writing everyday. It becomes effortless.
I just jumped on the bandwagon because I don’t like getting left out. What I love most is camaraderie and motivation 🙂
Have to really do one of the challenges soon. I have bring back the discipline of blogging again. Nice post Shilpa 🙂
when i read ur A-Z and photo challenges..i wondered if I would be able to do so myself… and secretly wanted to be a part of it myself…and then i fooled around with excuses convincing myself that i couldn’t! well not this time around though!! i haven’t been writing as much as i wished, and this challenge being a daily habit, like u said, will get me right back on track!
Blogging challenges are a step ahead of normal blogging..You have graduated systematically with grace.
All the best.
Absolutely, I agree to all the reasons you mentioned here, and that is exactly why I took up this new one.
And thank you sooo much for linking up with me Shilpa. I am happy that my first attempt at a writing challenge was a memorable one. 🙂
I was nodding away to glory!!!

I connected with so many ppl because of these challenges and I have no one but you to thank for it 🙂
I love your determination and enthusiasm for doing new things – a couple of traits I’m still learning to embrace completely. And you definitely inspire me to do so 🙂

Hats off to you Shilpa. Some commitment you have. I concur with all your reasons but find it too tough to take up a daily challenge.
I think all these are valid points. I wish I didn’t have such a hectic life and could somehow take part in these challenges. I was so tempted seeing you folks do the photo challenge. Want to do this daily blogging atleast for one month sometime in the future.
Shilpa you are a sport!. all the points are valid and tempts me to join.. But now I am not finding time to post even once a month 🙁 Actually I had convinced myself to join July photo a day challenge, to keep my blog alive, but couldn’t even start 🙁
This is my first every any blogging challenge…and as I was reading through your points I kept shaking my head like a cow O_O… true Day 3 and I already agree with all of them Shilpa 🙂 🙂
