30 Odd Questions #BlogFest

Since the last couple of years, my blog is seeing a ritual of sorts. After the super hectic and exciting April AtoZ challenge, my blog goes into a deep slumber. I had a lot on my plate this month. While everything got done, this baby of mine got royally ignored, so much so that I forgot its birthday too. On May 1st, I completed 8 years of scribbling virtually at this space. 8 years! Wow!!

There’s a lot to share but nothing like a fun and light post to wake up my blog from its catnap. Debbie from The Doglady’s Den is hosting a Blogfest on her blog. It’s Getting to Know You- 30 Odd Questions. Thanks Debbie for this saviour post, my blog needed just this. So, here I go with answering these 30 Odd Questions…

What did you want to be when you were a kid?

A Doctor! I guess that was more because of limited options then and prevailing societal norms. I quit this dream after failing the first attempt and I am glad that I did that!

Which “F.R.I.E.N.D.S” character do you relate to the most? Why?

Monica! Because of her OCD for cleanliness, her organizational skills and her being a dependable friend.

Do you like your name? Why?

I believe almost everyone is possessive of their names and love to wear them with pride. Undoubtedly, I love my name. Doodling my name/signature is one of the things that I love doing!  I find it lame when people ask me, “You are Shilpa Shetty or Shilpa Shirodkar?”

Are you messy or neat?

Neat. Everything has to be in its place… where it truly ‘belongs’.

How tall are you?

Ah! Height is just a number. But for record I am 164 cms tall.

How tall were you when you were 10?

Don’t know.

What is your guilty pleasure?

I ♥ sweets and that’s my guilty pleasure. I can have sweets as main course and there’s nothing like warm desserts. Aah! Am craving for something sweet now!

What are you saving money for right now?

Retirement!

How many Pringles can you eat at once?

I don’t like them!

Tea or coffee?

I have changed from a tea addict to tea and coffee lover. But when I am truly tired, I need my big large mug of tea and nothing else.

Are you an introvert or an extrovert?

I think as a kid, I was an introvert. But now I am more of an ambivert.

What will be your Halloween costume this year?

We don’t celebrate this in our part of the world.

Sweet or salty?

Sweet, without a doubt.

Favourite social media?

Facebook. Though, I need to curtail the time I spend reading my timeline.

Who is the last person you kissed?

My 15 year old!

What is your favourite breakfast?

Masala Dosa made by KG!

When is your birthday?

20th December

When did you start your blog?

May 1st, 2009.

What is your opinion on the Kardashians?

They are overrated.

How would you describe your style?

Simple, Comfortable and Chic.

What colour is your hair?

Black with some strands of greys. I cant wait to have the salt and pepper look.

What colour socks are you wearing?

None.

What is your dream job?

Librarian.

Dogs or cats?

Dogs.

What makes you weird?

My OCD for cleanliness, hygiene and orderliness…

Celebrity crush?

Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan.

Opinion on cigarettes?

H.A.T.E them and one should NEVER smoke them.

Do you want/have children? How many?

Just one!

Three favourite boy names?

Had done a lot of research when naming our son. After filling reams of papers with boy names I really liked, I went in for Aaryan which I had thought of before the research. yes, you may roll your eyes  I like Kshitij as a name too (Yes, I am biased. LOL) and Rahul is another name I like, though it’s pretty common.

Three favourite girl names

Haven’t really thought about this. There are a lot of lovely names these days. (Of course, there are equally bizarre ones too.) I like Kiara, Maya and Myra.

  1. Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan Yes yes. It was engineering for me. Glad I chucked that dream soon enough. Oh and being a librarian is my dream job too. I even asked at the local library but the timings didn’t sit well with me.

    1. Aha! We have a lot in common! I would love to be a librarian in this phase of life. I am imagining nearly 8 hours of peace to read books you love with a bit of work in between 😀

  2. Thanks for joining the blogfest, Shilpa! 🙂 It was interesting to learn more about you. We are both OCD, it seems, and started our blogs in the same year! Happy 8th Anniversary to A Rose is a Rose is a Rose.

    1. Thanks to you, I got to do a cool post. Is it going to be a monthly feature? I hope it is!! 🙂
Aha! Birds of a feather we are… Thank you so much, Debbie.

  3. Oh ho! Happy 8th birthday to one of my favorite blogs! 😀
I know about that disappearing act after A to Z. I still have 6 posts pending! 😛

Btw, do people really ask you about Shilpa Shetty or Shilpa Shirodkar? That is seriously lame!

Hahaha! I din’t know you like sweets so much! 😀

LOL! Being a librarian would be a nice job, as long as it’s not the kind in the movie series by that name!

    1. Thanks a lot, Kadambari.
Oh, most of us get this AtoZ fatigue 😀 Hope to get out of this slump now though, it’s high time.
Yeah, can you believe that… it’s so weird, I wonder how they remember Shilpa Shirodkar, for she arrived and disappeared from the filmy screen ages ago!! 🙄
Havent seen the Librarian movie series. Am curious to check it out now!

  4. Happy 8th Anniversary. Looking forward to reading your blog for many more years. Interesting questions and great answers. Now we know some more about you.

    1. Thank you so much, SG. Appreciate your support for all these years.
Why dont you do such posts on your blog? We would love to know more about you too 🙂

  5. hehe You like being a librarian just for the books. AB is my crush too but not SRK. Maybe, Irrfan. I am scared of people who have a fetish for excessive cleanliness. I am not that obsessed with housekeeping. 🙂 I also hate cigarettes and smoking. This was a fun read, Shilpa.

  6. I wanted to be an astronaut when I was younger. I now fulfill that dream by reading space sci-fiction books 😛

We have the sweet tooth in common too 😀

I enjoyed reading your answers, Shilpa. Specially the Shilpa Shetty one! Some people are really weird.

  7. Enjoyed reading this shilpa; I found a few things common, childhood dream – a doctor, am glad I in a way have become dealing with psychological issues:) Amitabh & Shahrukh remain my favorite, yes sweets …. just love them, but very careful now because of its impact on my body. My style too is simple, comfortable am not sure of Chic but the other too is for sure. Thanks for bringing smile on my face:)

  8. How weird is that every time I think that I haven’t read a post of yours for long, FB shows me your post!
I liked it, Shilpa. Got to know more about you. I see many similarities too. By the way, happy blog birthday!

  9. Happy 8th blogversary, Shilpa! It was lovely getting to know you a little more through your answers 🙂 I too need something to get myself out of the self-imposed stupor on the blogging front. Too much going on in life at the moment so i decided to take a break for a while. Having said that, this 30-question idea is nudging me to get writing again. 🙂

  10. I am an SRK fan.Friends character I would be Phoebe. But I don’t like cats or dogs as pets. 😎 I am a chocolate fanatic and not a Pringles fan.Love tea and coffee both.Glad to hop over to your blog from #Writing Wednesday.8years of writing is inspiring.Happy birthday Shilpagarg.com

  11. As i said earlier, we do have a lot in common, Shilpa!
It was good to know a bit more about you, you Big B fan! 😀 I love him, too!
And, now I am heading to Debbie’s blog…would love to do this post myself!

  12. What! You certainly can enjoy not having salt and pepper hair. I’ve had it since I was in my early forties. Vastly overated I can assure you. I began tinting my gray with blond and that is when I learned that I did not like yellow hair.

So enjoy that dark hair. I wish I had it back. However I don’t color my hair. That floating black hair that appears several days later doesn’t improve anyone’s look.

  13. We’ve got a few things in common (the Pringles thing, the Friends thing), and a few not so much (the cigarettes, for instance), but this was great fun to read. Cool answers, Shilpa — and glad you’re easing yourself back into post-A2Z blogging 🙂
