  1. I liked the picture…at least in some or the other way they’re trying to create awareness about women safety and the need of toilets around the house..which actually mean healthy environment !

  2. I find this picture very effective and it is only suggesting a better life.
Incidentally,I was in Mathura a few weeks ago, trust me, they need to do something urgently for the toilets there especially for ladies. It is in a mess

  3. Looking at the state of public toilets maintenance, its better to have one in every home…its a necessity…

Shilpa, u could’ve given the translation for those with limited hindi exposure… πŸ™‚

  4. Funny how the Govt. is trying to push the ‘hygiene’ factor using the ‘safety’ rod. Perhaps they’re hoping it would create a state of urgency!

  5. very interesting..but this happens in our cities too right? spreading awareness in any manner is a good thing and everyone must support that..

  6. WHAT does this still happen out there.. i cant beleive it ..

not sure but i feel embarassed at the situation is this still happens to women..

but on other hand yeah get them built CIVIC sense:)

  7. Hmm…interesting and innovative!!!

Promotions generally attack the most pressing problems of the local populace!!!

Aur yahan to ek teer se do shikar kiye hai πŸ™‚

  8. A picture can speak better than a thousand word and your post is a good example. Why, women, even men need toilets and not line up by railway lines to defecate.

  9. @ Nithin RS : Yes, I was impressed by the message. What I liked was, that the communication is as per the need of the target audience. It makes a lot of sense.

@ kanaguonline : Oops! It says,

β€œDaughter-in laws and Daughters should not go far off, have/build toilets in your home.

    The rogues took away Dhania.

Total Cleanliness Drive, Panchayat Raj department, Janpad Mathura Year 09-010

    @ Sweta : Thanks πŸ™‚

    @ UmaS : Well said, it’s mandatory!! πŸ˜›

Done Mam! (in the comment section, though!)

@ Insignia : Looks like there must be a lot of gundas and such kind of incidents must be prevalent and thus this line of communication in the poster!! Yeah, lets hope so!! πŸ™‚

    @ RGB : LOL πŸ˜€

    @ Phoenixritu : Yeah, right! πŸ™‚

    @ Prats : I know what you mean! 😐

  10. @ Neha : Oh yes, that is very much needed!! πŸ™‚

    @ HaRy : 😐

    @ Dhiman : Yes πŸ™‚

@ Bikramjit : Yeah, it is the 2009-2010 campaign so such things must be happening!!

Yeah health and hygiene is a must!!

    @ Swaram : Thanks πŸ™‚

    @ Roshmi : Yeah! πŸ™‚

    @ Reema : Thks πŸ™‚

  11. Shilpa ji,

I like the board. I think it really brings out the contradictions in our society.
    1. Don’t send women out of the house (because they aren’t safe – why? because our police and our social systems can’t keep the women safe)
    2. Defecating in the open is unhygienic and archaic. Don’t do it.

I think that this board is a symbol of our trishanku society.

    Thanks for the post.

    Gorakh Nath.

  12. @ Neena Sharma : Hope it is for the people out there! πŸ˜›

@ Gayathri : Yeah, looks like that! πŸ™‚

@ Gorakh Nath : Well said , Mr. Gorakh Nath! πŸ™‚

    @ Aashima : Oh yes! πŸ™‚
