A Drabble is a short work of fiction of precisely one hundred words in length. The purpose of the drabble is brevity, testing the author’s ability to express interesting and meaningful ideas in a confined space.
Oblivious to the chatter in the train, I’m lost in solving mystery along with Detective Fletcher.
Suddenly, I hear this voice. It’s one of those bassy baritones that’s heard on radio.
His voice mesmerizes me.
I try to picture how he’d look.
And there he is, all modelesque but in a timeless manner.
Guess what, he sits across from my seat.
My eyes are restrained by the head, forcing them not to ogle at him.
Is he avoiding me too, I wondered?
We said ‘Bless you’ in unison when a co-passenger sneezed.
Our eyes met.
And we needed no words.

The magical meeting of the twain 🙂 Well done, Shilpa 🙂
A mysterious stranger with the deep voice… Sounds delicious.
I definitely need to have more such encounters with mysterious strangers like this. Preferably blonde movie stars too! 🙂
It’s gettin hot in here! 😉 Love this strangers encounter in the train!
This brought to mind that old song “Strangers in the Night, exchanging glances…” I loved this little encounter you captured here. Awesome details and emotion. ♥
Like Kathy, I was singing “Strangers in the night” too. Oh those wonderful moments.
The encounter is romantic with a velvet touch of mystery. very well written.

Oh what a mysterious encounter with Mr. Bassy Baritone!
Ah…so I know where the inspiration from this lovely piece came from 😉 😉 Some perks of traveling eh?
So romantic!! 😉
no words too from my end for the way you weave the drabbles. how long does it take for you to make a drabble or 55er?. Needless to say shilpa, another feather in your drabble cap.
SOooo cute!! Such encounters are memorable.
absolutely yummyyyy 😀

Mmmmmm – mystery meeting with a stranger… Me like:-) Yes, sometimes you just click right?
Is this is the beginning of something new 🙂
This actually happens so many times that we are temporarily attracted to a stranger and both avoid and then suddenly our eyes lock.
Oh how sweet and so relatable. 🙂
Why don’t I meet such interesting people on train? I wonder what happened next. Did they smile?
Beautiful.
Intrigued to read what would have followed! Been a while since I read fiction from you.
When eyes speak, it indeed is special 🙂
Ahaa, some mush around there 🙂
Why I never find such kind of co-passengers? What happened next? Am curious.
Loved it, and yes it happens so many times while travelling. ending was really special.
Love the concept of a drabble , story in 100 words. Your story grabbed my attention till the end. Kudos.
How come I never meet such interesting people on the train, or on a flight? Maybe because I have my nose in a book as soon as I’ve settled down! 😉
I wish I saw such passengers. the concept of drabble is great, isn’t it?
How many times I have wished for an interesting (ahem) travel meet but its never happened to date 🙁
Loved the way you have set out the story in brevity- feels like a complete tale Shilpa
I myself always talk to people around me while travelling and strangers become friends nice post Shilpa well written.
Train is a place to have such short term relations initiated by eyes. Curious to know what happened next. 🙂
Hmm.Haven’t we all met the love of our lives in similar ways ?Few very romantic 100 words !
Short crisp story that keeps me hooked till end. Very well Penned
Perfect 100 words story. I love it. I am also a big fan of writing 100 words stories and poem. Concise yet Chrisp. Well Done.
Such a nice concept I hardly meet such strangers while traveling in the train as I always keep reading a book or checking out my phone.
Instant connection of sorts, isn’t it? Eye contact is an interesting thing and works even with strangers. That person sneezing sealed the deal.
This is a situation perhaps most of us have encountered at some point of time. It actually is quitea thrilling experience.
Such a lovely little tale…
Very well written. Conveying a story in lesser words in not easy. Keep writing.
Same thing happened with my friend and her love story started. Now they both are married and have a kid too.
Such an intriguing piece shilpa, so excited to know what happen next, do they meet again, fell in love.. . Keep writing, you are magical with words
