Stay Safe, Please
- When a third year law student was raped, struck 14 times with a motorcycle helmet, and finally strangled with a wire, at her residence, I wish she had a Smart Suraksha with her.
- When a 23-year-old physiotherapy student was savagely beaten and gang-raped in a moving bus last year, I wish she had a Smart Suraksha with her.
- When a 25-year old woman TV journalist was found shot dead in her car while returning home after work, I wish she had a Smart Suraksha with her.
- When a foreign national was found murdered in mysterious circumstances in a guesthouse, I wish she had a Smart Suraksha with her.
- When a 35-year old woman is beaten up daily by her husband and harassed by her in-laws over dowry, I wish she had a Smart Suraksha with her.
- When a 16-year old is pushed into the flesh trade against her wishes and is beaten up, is ill-treated and kept in captivity, I wish she had a Smart Suraksha with her.
- When a girl is harassed, lynched and exiled and later killed by her family because she brought ‘dishonor’ to their family, I wish she had a Smart Suraksha with her.
- When a old woman is tied up with metal padlocks and chains for around 10 years in the basement of her home by her son, I wish she had a Smart Suraksha with her.
- When a 20 year old is scared to go out for a stroll in the park adjacent to her home, after dinner, I wish she had a Smart Suraksha with her.
- When a woman is nervous about traveling alone in a public transport, I wish she had a Smart Suraksha with her.
- When a woman is jogging on a lonely track, I wish she had a Smart Suraksha with her.
Given the times we live in, the crimes against women are on the rise. No woman feels safe and this is because the crimes against women cut across the boundaries of culture, education, age, religion, socio-economic status…
As they say, safety is in your own hands. So apart from carrying pepper sprays or being proficient in self defense, women should have another savior in the form of Smart Suraksha.
Smart Suraksha, a mobile application, that can track your whereabouts and at a single touch will send an SMS to the pre-listed 5 contacts simultaneously and also the police.
You can download Smart Suraksha App on your phone from Google Play Store here.
Yes, use this app as a weapon that can prevent you from becoming an unfortunate victim.
Stay safe with Smart Suraksha.
I am participating in the Seeking Smart Suraksha contest at BlogAdda.com in association with Smart Suraksha App.

I have one old htc phone that came with Windows 6 ‘smart’ operating system. This phone just doesn’t break and hence I am unable to experience all those excellent apps available on Android!

Is breaking a phone a big thing? Give it to a child 😀
October 13, 2013 4:01 pm|
😀 Give it to a child. Good one!
As for the article, love the bullet format. Kind of digs in the seriousness of each and every incident that you mention. Great post!

😀 😛 I am sure Rajesh is laughing as well 😀
Hope we dont have such incidents ever again.

Thanks SG. Yes, the idea is that more women are aware of this app and know that help is nearby.

Very nice Shilpa, I guess we all must subscribe to this!
October 13, 2013 1:14 pm|

very informative post. I got a ‘Smart’ phone as a gift from my children last week.. I am quite confused about all its features.
October 13, 2013 1:23 pm|
Thank you Ma’am. A smartphone is like your laptop only… explore it and you will enjoy the experience thoroughly. 🙂
October 13, 2013 12:36 pm|
Very useful app. But I really do hate the fate we women need such apps/helps to be free or safe in our own place…. feels as if we are not safe in our own cocoon.
October 13, 2013 1:25 pm|
Oh yes, it is indeed sad that we need to use such apps for our safety and cant feel safe otherwise! 😐
October 13, 2013 1:18 pm|
Sounds like a very good app.
October 13, 2013 1:26 pm|
I tried it and it works great!
October 13, 2013 1:34 pm|
We all have been in one or more situations where we wish we had something like this. These are some really really bad times we are living in. 🙁
October 13, 2013 2:06 pm|
I know and the feelings or the state of mind in those few minutes is so distressing and scary! 😐
October 13, 2013 2:00 pm|
Times are so bad that we have to depend on a small cell-phone to take care of ourselves. But its a blessing.thank God for technology.
October 13, 2013 2:08 pm|
I know what you mean, Kalpana. Scary world we live in… yes, thank God for advances in technology!

I have never heard of this app and wonder if it is available in the United States. What a God send this would be as long as the lady had the time and capacity to bring it up while being attacked. It sounds like a wonderful safety tool.
October 13, 2013 5:58 pm|
This app is available on Google Play Store… so I guess, you should be able to download it on your phone in US. Try it… I am now curious to see if it works at your place! 😛 Yes, it is truly a boon for women when in any distressing situation!
October 13, 2013 5:50 pm|
Thanks,Shilpa.I will ensure that this msg, this post is spread to all the ladies in the family,in the neighbourhood.
October 13, 2013 5:51 pm|

October 13, 2013 11:23 pm|
Thks Sugandha! It is a good one… I tested it and it works well 🙂
October 15, 2013 1:00 pm|
very true shilpa. safety is in our own hands. It is not possible for the police or any security agency to be present in every nook and corner and provide security 24/7. In such circumstances smart suraksha is the most needed app. every woman/girl, why even men can carry.
October 15, 2013 4:45 pm|
Very valid point, Asha…. why only women, men must use this app too!
October 15, 2013 9:12 pm|
Shucks man. This post disturbed me right from the first line. But unfortunately this is the truth and there is nothing one can do about it… I wish this app can at least solve the purpose in some odd way…
October 15, 2013 9:34 pm|
I know what you mean, Richa! When I was reading about these, it disturbed me too!! yeah I hope this app helps too…
October 16, 2013 5:19 am|
Interesting and useful app in today’s hostile times. Seems like it doesn’t work with Google nexus phone in US,I tried to download and it said incompatible.
October 23, 2013 2:07 pm|
Oh! Is it??
October 16, 2013 8:49 am|
Thank you for the information Shilpa 🙂
It sure is a useful App
October 23, 2013 2:08 pm|
