A Rose Is A Rose Is A Rose!

Things are as they are, not as they should be!

Joy #AtoZChallenge @AprilA2Z

My theme for this year’s Blogging from A to Z April Challenge is Cultivating Happiness. Today, J is for Joy.

She bent close, jaw clenched tight as she focussed on the task.

It slipped from her fingers yet again.

She squared her shoulders and gingerly picked it up.

I shouldn’t have given in to the demand of a 5-year old!

The sparkle in her eyes as she finished decorating the cupcake was oh! so glorious!

The Word to the Wise

Find joy in the ordinary

Joy does not simply happen to us. We have to choose joy and keep choosing it everyday. Henri J M Nouwen

  1. Hi Shilpa, this makes me remember a line from a movie that I liked, “Chariots of Fire”, about British runners in the 1920 or 1924 Olympics. The one man’s father said to him, “You can praise the Lord by peeling a spud (potato) if you peel it to perfection.”

Your post made me smile and reminded me to add joy to my day. Rock on, #wHooligan sister! :O)

  2. Oh so much Joy after reading this post about Joy πŸ™‚
Joy is essential in life to survive.. Distress can’t cause too much damage that can only be repaired by Joy! πŸ˜‰

  3. Your post resonates with me! I love your idea about choosing Joy and keep choosing it every day πŸ™‚ Unless we are proactive in finding it in the everyday regular events of our lives, it will always elude!

  4. Finding joy in little things, be it even cleaning a table is not ordinary. Completing any task at hand, big or small, important and not so important, is worthwhile if you get joy in it

  5. Joy does not happen, we have to keep choosing it…true that. Finding joy in simple things makes life happier, like watching the baby pigeons outside my kitchen window.

  6. Simple joys are indeed the best. For me, cupcake decorating would be frustrating, but if done with a 5 year old, it would be something else entirely. I miss those days.

  7. Imagining this scene made me so joyous!
At home, I always decorate cakes, and make the marzipans for Christmas. I must ask mom to bake some cupcakes now. Really need to feel that joy of decorating again!
    Beautiful post, Shilpa!

  8. Loved the picture shilpa and the quote. Henri Nowen is a profound writer, I enjoyed his book called the “wounded healer” I hope I am right, it was years ago…
