Hardships have hit me like waves lashing against the boulders.

One wave disappeared and another one shaped up to knock me down again.

They knocked the wind out of my sails.

Misery and disappointment followed me everywhere.

They changed not only me but my world.

Yes, they’ve turned the wounds into wisdom, struggle into sapience.

A Word for the Wise

Gratitude

Reminding yourself of what youโ€™re grateful for in life helps you appreciate what you have. A spirit of gratitude will bring us true joy and great happiness.

  1. Being grateful for what we’ve accomplished in our lives no matter how insignificant we see it as makes life feel well lived.
Loved the powerful expression of today’s post ๐Ÿ˜€

  2. And there are two ways of looking at a half filled glass. The optimism and gratitude helps us in staying firm for long. It has reminded me of a poem ‘colorful’ I had written long time back… So very well expressed that too in a few words…

  3. I think that until my dentist finds out why I have toothache on both sides of my jaw, I am entitled not to find anything good in the day, other than the few hours when the ibuprofen actually takes effect – which is when I can get my writing done. In case you think I’m a wimp, it’s been four weeks now. Or actually more, because I’ve changed dentists from the one who caused the trouble in the first place. So it’s actually three months.
So the good thing is finding you so I could let off steam ๐Ÿ™‚
But I agree with you in principle!!

  4. Agree with you.. But I seldom seem to be applying it in my daily life;).. It is also said, instead of focussing what makes one unhappy, it is better to be grateful for the little things around us that make us happy.

  5. Learnt a new word today- sapience ๐Ÿ™‚
Yes, we should be grateful even to the worst experiences in our life, because they are the ones which help us appreciate the good ones ๐Ÿ™‚
Well written 55-word story, Shilpa <3

  6. Every little thing we take for granted right from the food we eat to the roof above us deserves gratitude as there are those that have to struggle even for that…. very well worded Shilpa

  7. A concept that is so hard to incorporate for those who have fallen yet something that can change their outlook if they are only willing to allow it.
I struggle to get friends to see the good side of a bad event on an almost daily basis… but we persevere, right?
    Another good take…

  8. Gratitude is so important in life. Thanking for the small happiness that we are blessed with is one of the best things to practice each day. Loved the quote ๐Ÿ™‚

    Cheers

  9. so true shilpa, everyday may not be good…:) but there is something good in everyday. .. its how we perceive the problem that matters, none of us can escape problems in life.. ..but how we view and the attitude towards that goes a long way. I strongly believe Gratitude is the best attitude any day !!

  10. What a lovely quote…it made my day, Shilpa! Absolutely agree that gratitude brings us true joy and happiness, because we then see what we have and acknowledge that!

  11. Thats profound! How we perceive a situation affects our mindset and approach to solving it… Difficulties will make us stronger and more resilient.
