If were having coffee, I’d wish you a hello and thank you for stopping by for a cup of coffee and some conversations here.

If were having coffee, I’d tell you that today I woke up feeling, “Aah! I don’t want to get out of bed and I don’t want to do anything!” Actually, I had this feeling yesterday as well. Yesterday, I thought, that this was due to the weekend work trip. So, I spent the entire most of the day, relaxing and reading in bed. I thought I deserved the day off for I had worked hard the previous day and that too on a weekend. I had a good time catching up on my reading and generally lazing around. But at the end of the day, there was this little feeling that I didn’t do anything meaningful.

If were having coffee, I’d tell you that his lack of motivation today morning despite all the rest yesterday bothered me. I ignored the long To-Do list which was staring at me and called up KG who is away for work. Among other things, I told him about this lack of motivation despite a hundred tasks looming large over my head. He coolly told me, ‘there are always 2 roads in front of you but you can only take one road. Decide for yourself which road you want to take today, the one leading towards productivity with satisfaction at the end of the day or a lazy day with instant gratifications but disappointment at the end of the day.’ And suddenly, it was clear to me about the road that I would be taking today.

If we were having coffee, I’d share that isn’t it wonderful to find that talking to someone outside of the situation can help sort a lot of things which you are not able to do with self-talk. Thanks to KG’s wise words, I ticked off a few things from my list and that included this post too.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I will be completing my Instagram #RiotGrams challenge today. It was lovely looking for books for the various prompts and sharing everyday and of course connecting with hundreds of other book lovers and their books. I will be posting the third and final round-up of this month long challenge on my blog in a day or two. I hope you have seen the earlier 2 posts here and here.

  1. I enjoyed this chat with you. I have been feeling tired and stressed out of late. Had too much work abs today have a terrible allergy so trying to take things relatively easy. That Insta challenge sounds good. Let me know if you are doing. I can join.

  3. With the light winter in the early morning, all I want to do is lie in bed the whole day. I just came back from a holiday, but I need another one to recover from it. I like the insta prompts.. Let me try.

  4. Coffee MUST be accompanied with chat and I loved this conversation. Wish we can actually have a conversation – even if online over coffee and few books.

  5. I find if I give into my body today, it is doubly recharged on both guilt and energy the next day 😉 I tend to listen to my body as it really know best how much I can take in.
    But yes if its simply procrastination, then you do know what you need to do!

  6. Hey it’s okay to laze around..there are certain days when I do absolutely nothing!! There’s a bit of guilt but I guess, it’s okay!
    The instagram contest is interesting! Let me see if I can participate..I’m new to instagram, just registered.

  7. It sure has been a lazy few days, Shilpa. I too was in the same position yesterday. I slept till 7;30 am!!! OMG! I had planned on doing Yoga, but slept till late. Today, though, I decided that enough was enough and pushed myself out of the bed and worked out, and felt so good.
    It’s true, encouraging laziness can be gratifying but for a few minutes. Getting up and doing stuff that makes you feel contented is tough, but fulfilling.
    I loved the November Photo Challenge and am definitely participating in it! I just finished the Inktober 2017 challenge and now will be busy clicking pictures! Thanks so much for sharing about this challenge, See you on Instagram from tomorrow onwards! Let’s have fun! <3

    It is okay to have few days where you lack motivation and made around. True that the guilt eats you up at the end of the day. But sometimes that guilt helps you get back on track too.
    Didn’t know about #riotgrams I’m just going to search about it, should be fun!

  9. Like you had mentioned, if not coffee then join me in tea. Loved it Shilpa. . Coming to this post, I could relate to your staying in bed thing. Since hubby has been managing the house, I am at ease. I am glad you took the road that lets you check off things from the to do list. For me it’s still the bed, but better. In a day or two I am hoping to get back. Nice coffee chat with you.

  10. I really enjoy your coffee conversations! And I like that you got good advice.

    I’ve been feeling rather unmotivated lately, and have found that the instant gratification of indulgence only means the rest of the to-do list is still there the next day, only larger.

  13. Hey, it’s perfectly ok to feel lazy and be it too sometimes! You must enjoy that phase and not go on a guilt trip about it , is what I would say.

  14. Thanks Shilpa for a cup of coffee and the reflective chit chat. As I was having coffee with you, I could see that you are tied up a lot and thus being lazy at times is justifiable. And yes, we do need a sounding board, once in a while, when the body and mind is too tired of self talk.

  15. Kg’s words took me back in time to SRK’s dialogue from DDLJ – Kisi bhi chhez ko paane ke do raaste hote hain, Ek jo aasaan hoga par aage mushkilein hongi aur doosra jo abhi mushkil lagega par us par chal kar aage sab achha hoga 😀
    I want to tell you I have been there, feeling lazy one day and catching up the next day. These days I can’t figure out why I am not able to take time out for my reading. How come have I got so busy?

  16. If I’m hesitant to get out of bed I ask myself why and try to counteract it. Sometimes there are reasons that your body is telling you and it helps to have some quite time to listen. I’m glad to read you are back!

  17. If I’d have coffee with you, I’d tell you I’ve been sailing in the same boat as you ever since I have come back home after being away for a month. I’ve simply been forcing myself to finish my chores. And with the lethargy of winter setting in, it really hasn’t helped me roll up my sleeves.

  18. KG seems a lot like my Husband. He always has such a no-nonsense approach to all my rants and complaints that we end up arguing about it sometimes. I admire the way you always pull yourself together and keep on being consistent with your commitments.
