Things are as they are, not as they should be!

Eureka! Eureka!!

Eureka! Eureka!! I said, on seeing Sujatha’s mail 4 days ago!!

And let me tell you that this Eureka moment was as profound as Archimedes would have felt when he stepped into a bath and noticed that the water level rose and he suddenly understood that the volume of water displaced must be equal to the volume of the part of his body he had submerged!!

Of course, I didn’t discover something as scientific as Archimedes. But what I discovered was something that I had been looking for a long long time.

I have blogged about it and have even mailed a few Tech Bloggers about it and whined about it to self, innumerable times. Alas, no luck in getting a solution to my issue. And, that goes on to prove that there is a suitable time for everything to happen!

Well, to cut the story short, I was pretty bugged with the Blogger Comment Format, which is not at all interactive like the WordPress one! And going up and down the page to respond to every comment is something which irks me to no end. And yes, I am pig-headed enough as shifting to WordPress, or installing Disqus etc, didn’t appeal me!

So a few days ago, when I was on Sujatha’s blog and while commenting saw that her response was just below the comment in each and every comment and I could see that there was a “Reply” option below each comment too. I checked her blog URL and voila!, it was a blogspot.com.

I checked again and immediately wrote her a mail and asked about this comment format on her blog.

She was so quick in her response that within a few minutes, she shared the mystery behind this interactive comment format on Blogger!

And I didn’t waste any time in following the steps she mentioned and installed this interactive comment format, which I was sooooooo looking forward to having it on my blog.

So, in case you have a Blogger as your blogging platform and want to install this new interactive comment format, all you have to do is…

  • In Blogger, switch to new blogger interface.
  • Go to Settings – then Posts & Comments – Select Embedded Comments.

And you will experience the “Aha Moment”!!

Thank you Sujatha!

    1. Sometime back, I had the new blogger interface and then I dont know what prompted me to go back to the older version. So, I guess, in that period I missed this new feature!!

    2. Oh yes, I noticed this time difference too!! Will check it out!
And thanks for pointing this out… I had no clue that I am nearing the 400th post!! Thank you!! :))

  1. I think this works only if you’re using one of the new templates, i.e the ones from the “Template Designer” screen. I’m using the old classic lighthouse template. Even with the “Embedded Comments” from the new Blogger Dashboard, I don’t get threaded comments on any of my posts. But good to see that blogger finally rolled out this feature too. Even I never got interested in embedding a third-party comment section. Will try to find out a way to manually add it in the template! :p

    1. Yes, I am using Template Designer.
Ok… so this doesn’t work with earlier version of templates!
Let me know, when you get the solution of manually adding this comment format in your template! All the best! 🙂

  2. You are a darling! Thanks – this was one thing missing from blogspot and I didnt even explore the new template.

Now let me check if it works for me. I am yet to find out if I am using template designer

    1. You know what, you were the first one, I thought of, when changing to this format! I know, you respond to all the comments on your blog, despite the pain of scrolling up and down! :))
It will work, if you use the new designer template and its very very simple and easy to use!! Go for it!! :))

  3. there’s a famous saying in tamil “Kadhula then panja maadhiri”, which literally means ..”it was as if the honey flew into my ears”!! Glad Glad Glad!! I’ve always been wavering minded whether I need to continue in Blogger or move to wordpress! Now 1 more reason to stay in Blogger 🙂 Yippeee
