The Walls We Build
She frowned and the furrows on the forehead deepened too.
A dozen thoughts raced through her head which painted multiple images simultaneously.
Like a vortex, she got sucked into these vivid images. The more she worked on it, the deeper she was drawn into it.
It exhausted and overwhelmed her resulting in a lot of darker and sleepless nights.
But did that deter her?
No, she gave wings to her imagination and worked hard some more on it, till it robbed her of the present and her peace of mind too.
Yes, that’s worry, the painful pebble in her shoe.

That’s a great take on the prompt…of course worries can rob us of our peace but it is for us to keep moving…that’s what its all about.

True, like they say, worry is like a rocking chair: it gives you something to do but never gets you anywhere! So it is best to change gears and think positive and move on!

By God! That’s an art to be learned. 3 different prompts linked into one drabble. Hats off! 🙂
July 8, 2014 12:24 pm|
Oh, but it is just one prompt 😀
July 8, 2014 10:18 am|
ah!! Those damn pebbles!! They can be so annoying!
I wish it were as easy as removing one’s shoes and shaking it!
nicely done Shilpa! 🙂

I know what you mean, Pixie… it is certainly not easy but not impossible. So, if give it a try, these pebbles can come out easily! Thank you 🙂
July 8, 2014 10:36 am|
Very nicely done, Shilpa! Worry indeed is a commonly found pebble in most shoes, and one that robs us of our energy to keep moving 🙂
July 8, 2014 12:01 pm|
Lovely take on the prompt!! Nailed it again 🙂
July 8, 2014 12:06 pm|
That was a smart way to combine the prompts, Shilpa ! Good job. Yes, fear is the most troublesome of all the pebbles but when it subsides the feeling of victory more than makes up for it. The adrenaline rush and the optimism that victory brings is truly satisfying.

July 8, 2014 4:49 pm|
some times these pebbles are like those which you cannot throw out and have to learn to co-exist!!
July 8, 2014 6:12 pm|
Worry.. It is the root problem all the ills in ones life.
But,no one wants to get into a worrry situation ,it is the circumstances in life and that is the time to be brave and come out of it.

Most of us have had that pebble enter our shoe at some point(s) of time in our lives. We can’t prevent that pebble from entering our shoe, but we certainly can try to get rid of it once we are aware of its presence.

Isn’t worry the worst? I have that pebble in my shoe and wish I could get rid of it. Nice post.

Worry, doubt , etc are all pebbles which have to be dislodged at the right time.
Loved the way you combine prompts so effortlessly.

July 9, 2014 6:22 am|
This is so true, worries exhaust us more than the actual act. Love the quote too.
