P is for Patience in Marriage

55 Fiction

He could count the tick-tocks of the clock.

He could watch his fingers tap dance on the banister.

Or slow down his racing, rising heart.

But then he realized long ago that it’s best to idle the motor than rev up the engine.

Because, some things never change.

Like his wife getting ready on time.

A Word to the Wise

What good has impatience ever brought? It has only served as the mother of mistakes and the father of irritation. ― Steve Maraboli

  1. Aha πŸ™‚ That’s a funny take, because we women are always mistaken as ‘not being ready on time ‘ πŸ˜€ But we know we’ve to look good when we go out with the hubby dears πŸ™‚
Well, patient pays a lot, especially in marriage πŸ™‚

  2. In my marriage I am always left waiting on my husband…he is the one who has to rush to the bathroom one more time, do this or do that, while the kids and I wait in the car wondering what in the world he is doing and why he doesn’t hurry up. LOL β™₯

  3. Interesting post. I say wives through their simple action of taking a bit longer to get ready actually help their husbands learn and practice this important virtue of patience. Otherwise how would they learn? πŸ™‚ We do it for their own good πŸ™‚

  4. I thought I had a lot of patience… but this picture thought in the end making me rethink. I get very anxious when things happen in a different order in which I had thought them to happen. Hmm!

  5. Ha ha ha – great take on that, Shilpa:-) Reminds me to be more patient myself… Which I really need to some times. Loved the quote!

  6. Love this post! This scenario is all too familiar. I watch my FIL sit in the car and honk, honk, honk waiting for my MIL to get ready- and I wait in the car with him. (I am super fast at getting ready,)I learnt patience from my FIL!!

  7. Shilpa,

Visiting after a couple of days. Caught up from N to P. So true, unless you Nurture each other to Overcome problems together with Patience how can you expect happiness?

    Take care

  8. I thought I was a patient person which isn’t easy for a type A personality BUT when my husband was in a car accident and suffered brain damage – I learned the true meaning of patience.

  9. Haha…my dad used to have that problem too…and he used to worry what it would be like with 3 women in the house! Luckily back then, my sister and I weren’t the least bit interested in getting dressed up.

  10. True…but I get wild when people don’t get ready on time….luckily my partner has very good time sense..:) but right..patience is needed..every where…..hey, thanks for the tag dear….just seeing it..ahhh I get it… P for Prudhvi Latha πŸ˜›

  11. Ha ha ha…it’s just the opposite at my place. we’ll all get ready and wait for the man while he decides whether this tee or that, whether this watch or that. πŸ˜€
